Description:

This was an act that was part of the Compromise of 1850 and it gave federal support to slave catchers. This angered many Abolitionists because slave catchers were snatching dozens of free black men in the north and enslaving them. This helped lead to the Civil War because of the wrongful treatment of the free black men, women, and children in the north, and this angered abolitionists.
