6 févr. 1918 - The Representation of the People Act 1918 is passed

Description:

The Representation of the People Act is a landmark act in British History, it gave women close to equal franchise as men and allowed for the free and fair representation of all of Britains Citizens. The Act was passed and given royal assent in 1918 close to the end of the First World War. This is so important because during the war women proved that they can work just as hard as men in creating arms/ munitions for the war effort that allowed them to start the fight for political rights and representation. This comes at a time where the world and Britain as a whole are advancing in their civil liberties and this is a great showcase of that.
