- After marrying his longtime companion Hitler wrote a final letter to the German people, it blamed the Jews for starting the war and his generals for losing it
- The day after, Hitler shot himself and his new wife swallowed poison
- As Hitler ordered the two bodies were taken outside to be soaked in gasoline and burned
- A week following his death, General Eisenhower accepted the unconditional surrender of the Third Reich
