1 janv. 1524 - Nun komm der Heiden Heiland (NAWM 46b)

Description:

Composer: Martin Luther

The title translates to “Now come, savior of the Gentiles”. It is a chorale, and Luther used the melody of the hymn Veni redemptor gentium (come, saviour of nations). Veni redemptor gentium was used as an Office hymn during the Advent season defore Christmas. Luther adapted the text to be a chorale for the Advent season, and made changes to the original chant to make it the most accessible for his contemporary audience (ie he gave it rhythm).
