1 janv. 1270 - De ma dame vient/Dieus, comment porroie/Omnes (NAWM 22)

Description:

Composer: Adam de la Halle

This piece was composed between 1260s-1280s. The title translates to “From my lady comes/God, how can I/All”. It is a motet with three voices. The tenor uses the melisma on “omnes” from CD Gradual Viderunt Omnes as the cantus firmus. For the duplum, Adam borrows material from himself (his monophonic rondeau diex, comment porroie). For the triplum, he quotes several lines of poetry from other songs. Adam combines the court tradition of trouvere song with the newer form of the motet. Additionally, this motet uses franconian notation.
