France acquired Louisiana from Spain in the 1800 treaty. Thomas Jefferson becomes nervous about France in North America, so he tries to buy New Orleans and the eastern land for ten million dollars. /Napoleon sells the land for fifteen million to Thomas Jefferson. Although the Constitution did not state presidential right to purchase the land, Jefferson moved forward with the deal. This is known as one of the biggest steal in American history./
