Description:

*The constitutional convention was called because of difficulties in international trade, taxes, finances and interstate commerce.* There were fifty five representatives from twelve states that were at this convention, Rhode Island did not send a representative. The intentions of the convention was to revise the Articles of Confederation, but many people wanted to rewrite the constitution. The people that were there to rewrite the constitution had ideas from the enlightenment, revolution, and critical period so there would be many values needed to be included. Key Concept 3.2, II.
