The industrial revolution was the switch to machine-assisted production of goods in factories and away from the production of goods at home by hand. This revolution was brought on mainly by new technology such as the cotton gin, and it was supported by the government through things like the force bill. Young unwed women also joined the workforce for the first time. The revolution also brought about the creation of new social classes.
