The Monroe Doctrine was a foreign policy statement that stated the U.S would not interfere in European conflicts and any further colonization efforts in the western hemisphere would been seen as an act against the Unite States. The Monroe Doctrine was historically significant BECAUSE it set a new precedent for how the United States would conduct itself in the future.
