21 déc. 1777 - Articles of Confederation

Description:

"The Declaration of Independence and the Articles relate because they are legal documents that are highlighting important ideas and rules." The Articles of Confederation was the first written Constitution of the United States. It stated that there should be a unicameral legislature which is a single house congress and that each state gets one vote and there should be nine votes to pass a law and that everybody should agree on amendments. Congress could borrow and issue money and either start a war and make peace, but it had no power to tax, and there was no executive or judicial branch.
