Description:
Gorbachev ushered in a new era for Russia with twin policies Glasnost and Perestroika which offered change and possibly moving away from socialism. The Economy in the USSR was failing bc too much money went to military build-up, and their resources had been exhausted in the invasion of Afghanistan.
