After their walk through past events, Gondul and Varen continue to discuss what role they have to play in the fight against Molag Bal and Mannimarco — as well as how the Ruby Brotherband would contribute to this quest.

Varen mysteriously seemed to already know of the Ruby Brotherband despite Gondul never mentioning its existence to him. Whether Varen had merely caught word of the group, spied on them, or otherwise foresaw their existence in the Elder Scrolls is unknown.

He explained that Vignar, Gudrune, J'Shearra and all of his future allies within the Ruby Brotherband would be the decisive factor in whether or not they obtain Victory.

Varen explained that Gondul would of course need more than the company of an old blind man to alter the course of History. He ordered Gondul to continue expanding the Ruby Brotherband — and Instead of avoiding the ongoing war, actively search for a soul blessed by Akatosh, a soul with Dragonblood in their veins.

Following the hunt for a Dragonborn, they were to recover the Amulet of Kings and reclaim the Empire from the traitorous Empress-Regent; Clivia Tharn.

After that, the Brotherband must find a way to destroy Mannimarco and help in the birth and construction of a New Empire for Tamriel. He recommended Gondul use the overwhelming militaristic strength of the Ebonheart Pact to achieve this goal by forging an alliance with the Faction.

This alliance would promise that, upon the successful overthrow of Clivia Tharn and the destruction or surrender of her forces, a New Empire would be established within Cyrodiil that recognized the Ebonheart Pact territories as free and Independent Provinces who were not in any way under Imperial control. The trade off being of course that, during the Three Banners War, the Pact forces could be used by the Separatist forces — and vice versa.

"After all, an Empire is law, and law is sacred. It is our best hope in restoring peace across Tamriel," Varen stated.

Gondul would later utilize this statement as the motto of the Ruby Brotherband following its coalescence with the Imperial Separatist forces.

A Dragonborn is a rare individual who has been born with the blood and soul of a dragon, but the body and frailties of a mortal. They can naturally learn and speak the ancient and powerful tongue of the Dov, called the Thu'um.

Dragonborn scarcely exist, however, and it is rare for more than one to appear at the same time. They can belong to any race or gender, since dragons have no inherent concept of gender, and the dragon blood is a gift bestowed to certain mortals favored by Akatosh.

Unfortunately, and up until the Present, the search for someone who is a Dragonborn has ultimately failed, and none seem to currently be alive. This later hindered the Ruby Brotherband's plans for a short while.
