Nebuchadrezzar surrounds Jerusalem and begins his final assault on the city, lasting some 18 months, on 10 Tebeth (Tevet) 3173. This was after returning from his response to the Egyptian threat briefly mounted by Pharaoh Apries. Apries realized he had bitten off too much, and pulled a quick retreat, leaving Jerusalem to fend for herself.Jeremiah 52:4, 39:1-3
