1 janv. 1868 - C. Darwin proposees pangenesis

Description:

Darwin proposes a theory on how traits are passed on hereditarily. He believed that when parents conceive a child, seeds of cells spread off to create the new child. These tiny seeds were called "gemmules". Darwin argued that birth disorders were caused by having not enough gemmules. Additionally, the variation in a child's appearance was due to the strength in the parent's gemmules.

This was later disproved by Sir Francis Galton who failed to locate the gemmules in rabbit blood. Furthermore, the discovery of genetics by Gregor Mendel who showed alleles marked the different hereditary traits in an organism.
