1 janv. 1902 - Women Receive The Right To Vote

Description:

New Zealand beat Australia to it, but we soon became the second country in the world to grant women voting rights in 1902. However, women didn't win the right to vote because they wore dresses, stayed quiet, and sat still and invisible. Of course not! Many suffragettes protested and fought for their rights, released books and magazines, campaigned bravely, and ignored the many posters and slogans mocking them, calling them disgraces, making them all look uncouth, and giving suffragettes a bad name. Women's suffrage continued, with the suffragettes fighting for their rights and adamantly refusing to back out of the battle. They adopted the colours of purple for dignity, white for purity and green for hope. In the end, the women were victorious!
