The keys of Priesthood authority were restored to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in the Kirtland temple after its dedication a week before. Peter, James and John restored the keys of priesthood authority (offices). John the Baptist restored the authority to baptize. Elijah restored the authority to join families together forever.
