12 juill. 1771 - When Captain Cook "Discovered" The East Coast of Australia
Description:
It was Captain Cook's first voyage out of the three - in fact, he wasn't a captain back then! He was known as Lieutenant Cook, a junior naval officer with skills in mathematics and cartography. The expedition was commissioned by King George III and was a combined effort between the Royal Navy and Royal Society. The journey lasted from 25 Aug 1768 – 12 Jul 1771, and they sailed along Australia's coastline near the end of the adventure.
