1 janv. 1721 - The Modern Factory

Description:

With many inventions being created during the industrial revolution factories of large scales began appearing first in Britan then spread across the world. Many credit Derby's John Lombe with his five-storey silk mill in 1721 to be the father of the modern factory. However, most believe it was Richard Arkwright who built Cromford Mill in 1771 which initially employed 200 workers. Arkwright spilt the workers into groups working day and night 12-hour shifts. This spead up the rate of production dramatically.
