Description:
The Underground Railroad brought over 15,000 African American refugees to the Province of Canada. It was a secret network built of people against slavery, becoming the largest anti-slavery freedom movement in North America. A vast system of routes beginning from the southern United States and travelling to the northern United States and Canada helped escaped slaves find freedom.
