4 nov 1902 - Socialists win the House of Representatives
Description:
Building on the outrage over the Coal Strike, the Socialist Labor Party makes huge gains in the mid-term elections, winning a plurality in the House of Representatives and breaking into the Senate (although they are still a minority). Congressman Daniel DeLeon (S-NY) becomes the first Socialist Speaker of the House, while Senator Eugene Debs (S-IL) becomes the Socialist Senate Minority Leader.
