Description:

The Treaty of Nanking was a peace treaty instated in order to end the Opium war, which raged from the year 1839-1842. The treaty effectively ended the war between the British and the Qing Dynasty on the 29th August 1842. The aforementioned treaty consisted of 13 articles. Two copies of the original treaty were kept, each by a respective government. The first went to the British government whilst the other was held by the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs of Taiwan at the Natural Museum in Taipei.
