20 nov 2014 - Deferred Action for Parents of Americans; 2014

Description:

The Deferred Action for Parents of Americans was passed and announced on the 20th of November in 2014. This bill allowed parents of United States citizens and lawfully permanent residents to be applicants for a temporary stay in the country without risk of being deported; they were also allowed work permits. Just as past acts, individuals had to be eligible to be able to receive the protection. Immigrants were eligible if they had a son or daughter that lived in the U.S as a citizen or a lawfully permanent resident since November 20 of 2014. Two other requirements were that the individual must have been able to pass a background check and they must’ve not have had a lawful immigration status. When people were granted DAPA, they would receive work permits and protection from deportation for three years continuously.
