Description:
An idea spurred by L.B. Sharp, the first school camping experiment begins in June 1947 with the NY Board of Education at Life Camps.The 3 week experiment looks at whether or not learning takes place in outdoor settings. (It does!)
5th and 7th graders spend 3 weeks in an outdoor education settings.
Student pre and post-testing is conducted and finds test scores are equal to or exceeds learning in a classroom-only setting.
