19 août 1953 - Mossadeq overthrown
Description:
As a result of the British blockade, Iran's income suffered. Under pressure from the Americans and British, the Shah dismissed Mossadeq and shut down the Iranian parliament.The Shah then:
-Agreed to restart oil production with the west
-Joined Britain, Turkey and Iraq in an anti-Soviet alliance.
-The Shah made some reforms in areas such as education but there was still a big gap between rich and poor.
