1 janv. 1950 - Gas Cooled reactor

Description:

In 1962 the first advanced gas-cooled reactor was built in Calder Hall, England. The reactor was too big to be installed onboard a naval vessel that it was originally intended for, so instead, it was used to supply electricity to British commoners. They successfully used carbon dioxide as a coolant instead of water, The UK developed the gas-cooled reactor to prove that they didn't need Americans reactor technology and they lacked the capability to produce a reactor pressure vessel and gas-cooled reactors didn't need them. Gas cool reactors could also use uranium at a lower enrichment level as fuel enrichment is expensive and they also have safety advantages as they are low powered in the core.
