Firstly, the date of 476 does not make sense because the king still had to be the emperor of a kingdom. Furthermore, the Roman constitution dictated that that since there was an emperor, there would be no loss of land. Finally, when Theodisius split Rome in two, he wanted to establish one country with two emperors, meaning Eastern Rome is still Rome. Because of this, the 476 date doesn't make sense. The sack of Rome in 140 makes even less sense because a simple sack cannot constitute the fall of a kingdom but can signify the decline of it.
