Description:

France, by decision of the Legislature, declared war on Austria. The reactionaries, and monarchy, wanted war because they felt that the new government would be destroyed, leaving Louis XVI and the monarchy back in power. On the other hand, the revolutionaries wanted war because they thought it would unify the country once and for all.
