A few days after his first victory in Tamriel, Gondul looked to assimilate more comfortably into Dunmer culture by grabbing a mug of sujumma in The Stinking Fish inn in Davon's Watch. Conversing with a few locals about what happened within Holgunn's Unit, Gondul had stumbled upon his first Soulless one — an Argonian who went by the name of Zanthor Titanius.

Although Gondul was extremely off-put by the appearance of an Argonian, he quickly came to the conclusion that Zanthor was an honorable and humble warrior.

Naturally drawn to the Argonian's wise way of thinking and humble origins, Gondul swiftly gave him the chance to become the first brother in the Brotherband — the first soldier within the ranks of The Ruby Brotherband. The Argonian, expressing his gratitutde, accepted the offer and was recruited.

Since he first left the shores of Atmora, Gondul felt a strange feeling inside of him. He didn't recognize it at first, but in hindsight, he realized it was hope.
