Description:

With the Soviet’s help, the Chinese army grew stronger.
- When Sun Yixian died, the military commander took over.
- He created a stronger army, and in 1926 China set out to destroy all of the warlords in the north, called the Northern Expedition.
- The Chinese quickly defeated them and regained control of the Wuhan area. But, there was tension in the part, and in 1927 all Soviet advisers were kicked out and they moved against the members of the nationalist party with soviet views. Many were arrested and executed.
- A new one-party rule was established, and many construction problems were done. But, they didn’t change tax collection or land ownership methods, so peasants were still forced to suffer.
