4 mars 1858 - James Henry Hammond presents the Mudsill Theory

Description:

1) This theory claimed that there should and would always be a inferior class to let higher class rest upon. The theory was used to justify slavery and strengthened white supremacy, for no matter how poor a white was, they would be relieved for they were not black slaves and there belonged to a higher race.
2) Abraham Lincoln argued forcefully against this theory. It was a main devision between the North's and the South's ideology.
