31 oct. 1922 - Benito Mussolini becomes Italian Prime-Minister

Description:

Benito Mussolini had a lot of similarities to Adolf Hitler in terms of his views on politics and their countries. They had both been left disappointed after WWI, and they both believed the ways of socialism and democracy were weak and that new ways were required to fix their countries' problems. Mussolini was the initial creator of fascism ('Fascismo') and founded the Fascist Party of Italy on March 23, 1919. Like Hitler, Mussolini was fantastic with words and knew how to appeal to the interests of his citizens. As Italy was in need of change, he knew this would be the time for him to begin his rise to power. Him and his fascist members decided they would threaten to march on Rome if the government was not given to them, and so in 1922, Mussolini forcibly became prime-minister. To his credit, his actions reduced unemployment rates quite considerably. On the other hand, he later sided with Germany and Japan in WWII and heavily contributed to the losses of the war.
