Adolf Hitler originally served in the First World War as a soldier. After Germany's loss, the loss of family members, and the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler became outraged and had a new view of society and formed a hatred for communists and Jews. Using his excellent public speaking skills, Hitler quickly rose to power after joining and remodeling the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party). The party eventually gained more and more votes as Germany suffered from the harsh conditions of the Treaty of Versailles along with The Great Depression. The Nazi Party, along with Hitler, went from unpopular to the major favourites as the German population sought a new solution to their broken reputation and economy. Hitler was appointed as Chancellor, and shortly after that the German president passed away and Hitler became dictator. He gave himself the title 'Der Fuhrer' (The Leader) and he soon started to change the course of the country drastically. His first actions were breaking the Treaty of Versailles by strengthening his military and preparing to expand the country.
