Description:
Johnson told the American public that on August 2 and August 4 of 1964, that North Vietnamese torpedo boats had fired on 2 American destroyers that were patrolling in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Gulf of Tonkin was a free waterway where anybody could drive a boat. Johnson needed permission from congress to bomb Vietnam. On this day, congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution which gave Johnson the right to take all measures necessary.Ajouté au bande de temps:
