Description:

A young black boy in my class known as the class clown struggled to read. In turn, the teacher moved him to the hallway as punishment and eventually had him moved to special ed classes. A white boy, also his best friend was also sent to the hallway but instead received an aid to help him in class.
This highlights the first time that I realized the major differences in treatment that result from our skin color. Even though they had the same issues, one was considered to have behavioral issues and the other was given access to support resources. I became aware that these are the same things that could happen to me throughout my educational experience.
