8 juin 1931 - Agrarian reform law
Description:
This was one of the most heavy influencing agricultural laws during this time. The government wanted to take some land from land owners and redistribute this land to peasants so they could have something. Inevitably, landowners were very upset with this and led to the unpopular opinion of this being a good law. They ignored the details of the law and continued to keep their land so they would not empower any of the workers/peasants. Also, the Institute for Agrarian Reform was not very organized and did not have much funding, preventing the law from flourishing. Landowners began to support the right wing as CEDA leader Gil-Robles promised to undo the land redistribution changes.
