WIth the newly achieved women's suffrage, the right was able to take advantage of their numbers and dominate the 1933 Elections. The group that dominated the elections was known as CEDA, or the Confederación Española de Derechas Autónomas (Spanish Confederation of Autonomous Rights). With the left urging Zamora to invalidate the right's victory, political polarization and tensions rose.
