Description:
Many non-spaniards, mainly associated with communist and socialist groups, joined the international Brigades. They believed that the Spanish Republic was a front line in the war against facism. Around 40,000 foreigners fought with the brigades, representing 53 nations; most of which were from France, Nazy Germany, Austria, and Italy. Others were from the United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, Poland, Canada, Yugeslavia, and Hungary.Ajouté au bande de temps:
