Description:

This was a massive programme of land redistribution that angered most of the landowners. An Institute of agrarian reform was set up. This Institute would but any estate of more than 23 hectares and it would allocate to guarantee small farmers had large holdings that were enough to give them a fair income. Because the Institute had limited funds, they were only able to distribute land to a few thousand families. Not only did this anger the landowners, it disappointed many agricultural workers and small farms. This then caused them to object to the leadership of the PSOE, the UGT, and the FNT. This caused an increase in support for the anarchist who called for greater action.
