14 oct. 1936 - First arrival of International Brigades in Spain

Description:

The international brigades were military units formed by international volunteers with the intention to fight fascism and help the government in 1936. The organization ended up lasting for two years, and it is estimated that ~50,000 members participated in the Brigades. The International Brigades were a big factor in the war, fighting in battles of Madrid, Jarama, Guadalajara, Brunete, Belchite, Teruel, Aragon and the Ebro. For the last year of its existence, the Brigades were actually lumped into the Spanish Republican Army as part of the Spanish foreign legion. The largest number of volunteers for the International Brigade came from France and communist exiles from Germany and Italy. The people who were in the International Brigades wanted to help the government get through the revolution that was taking place before them.
