People of Spain expected the Republic to take them into the 20th century with plenty of new improvements to society such as the increasing of the rights of the working classes, the introduction of public education, and the emancipation of women. However, they were unable to carry out all of these things in a short amount of time and as a result, war broke out between the left and right wing.
