15 janv. 1936 - Formation of the Popular Front and the National Front
Description:
In preparation for the next election Manuel Azana helped to form the Popular Front. This was a coalition of parties from the left wing including the Socialist, Communist, Esquerra, and Republican Union party. This was meant to unite the left wing parties to better combat the right wing party and win the next election. In retaliation the right wing parties formed a similar coalition called the National Front which included the CEDA and the Carlists. The formation of these two coalitions display the growing conflict between the two wings and the lengths that they have to go be successful.
