While the constitution was created on September 17, 1787, it wasn't effective on the US until March 4, 1789 and was ratified on June 21, 1788. The Constitution separated the three powers into the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of government. It also provided the government with the power to tax, borrow, and regulate money. Therefore, the government was able to protect the wealth and property of the people.
