Description:

The Treaty of Versailles was "the most important" of the peace treaties. It put Germany at fault for the war and required them to pay huge reperations among other things. It was signed on the 28th of June, 1919: and enforced on the 10th of January 1920.

CAUSES & EFFECTS
CAUSE 1- (War Guilt Clause) Was caused by the Allies need to humiliate the Germans as much as possible.
CAUSE 2- (Limitations on Germany's armed forces) This was caused by the Allies fears of another war.

EFFECT 1- Germany felt humiliated and wanted revenge. They (the Germans) knew the war wasn't all their fault and so they hated the treaty and the blame it put on them.
EFFECT 2- Germany was unable to defend themselves against the Allies claims which lead to both a feeling of vulnerability and humiliation over the amount of power that was held over them.
