The English colonization of the new world starts poorly and has many failed colonies like Roanoke. Colonization was long and tedious for the English because of conflicts with Spain but finally in 1607 the first permanent colony of Jamestown is founded by the Virginia Company. This colonization is expanded by religious separatists like the Pilgrims and the Puritans.
