19 mars 2003 - Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn
Description:
Even after Operation Desert Fox, Saddam Hussein and his regime continued to pose an “imminent threat”. After Hussein ignored an order from President Bush to leave Iraq, the U.S. and Britain invaded Iraq. Major operations lasted less than two months and included over 41,000 sorties. Hussein’s regime was disposed and an interim government set up. Even after Hussein's execution in 2006, the U.S. continued to battle insurgents until 2011.
