What is was and causes-
The Nanjing Massacre was an episode of mass murder and mass rape committed by Imperial Japanese troops against the residents of Nanjing. The Japanese Imperial Army began its seizure of Nanjing, the capital of the Republic of China. Japanese troops killed remnant Chinese soldiers in violation of the laws of war, murdered Chinese civilians, raped Chinese women and destroyed or stole Chinese property.
This population increase was mainly due to Japanese occupation in 1931 which caused thousands of refugees to flee to Nanking and other Chinese cities. After Shanghai was under Japanese control, Japanese armies advanced towards Nanking.
Effects of the nanking massacre was that the city was destroyed. A third of the city was burnt down. All families were gone and everyone in devastation. The city would never fully recover with Beijing becoming the capital.
Even today, due to propaganda, the true number of deaths and cases will be known.
