Tenants move into the first ten units completed in a new $12 million 72-unit transitional housing (aka social housing, aka emergency housing) complex in Puhinui Road, Papatoetoe. This is one of several similar Government-funded initiatives underway in the area: on 4 August 2017 Associate Minister of Social Housing Alfred Ngaro opens a 21-unit complex in Redoubt Road, Manukau Heights, for the Penina Health Trust; and later in the month Social Housing Minister Amy Adams tours a 54-unit social housing development which is underway in Browns Road, Manurewa.
