Description:

AAIDD promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
On January 1, 2007, the American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR) became the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), joining the trend toward use of the term intellectual disability in place of mental retardation.
The goals of AAIDD are to help people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They want to promote a society that includes people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and enhance skills and knowledge on people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
