Description:

This committee was established in 1980 and inherited its responsibilities from the Community Development, Property and Housing Committee. These responsibilities were to acquire, develop and manage council properties, to assist in the provision of housing including pensioner housing and to assist in achieving Council's financial, community, growth and works objectives. It changed its name in 1986 to the Property Committee.
Its main fields of activity were halls including the Town Hall, Tamaki War Memorial Hall and the Pioneer Womens Hall, housing and council property, shops in parking buildings, rental, emergency, pensioner and service housing and Improvement Trust properties and the acquisition or sale of the same; property development and management including letting, rentals and repair contributions. To make regular submissions to the Government on Auckland's housing needs and to investigate entering into joint ventures with other bodies.
