Description:

The first day of the vietnamese New Year, known as the Tet, communist forces launched a surprise attack against South Vietnam. Within 24 hours, the communist controlled more than 100 cities and military bases in the south including the US embassy in Saigon: Tet offensive. Lasted for 3 weeks until the US and South Vietnamese forces were able to push the communist back. Westmoreland claimed that this was a US victory; militarily it was. Politically, it was a major defeat because it shattered our confidence.
